Win tickets to Titanic the Musical in October
2023-10-15

If you saw the film Titanic, you must have been touched by its emotional ending, as silver-haired Rose dreams of her 17-year-old self slowly ascending the staircase on the intact Titanic and walking towards Jack in the view of the blessing eyes of passengers and crew members on the ship. Fictional characters though Jack and Rose are, they have brought a generation of audiences tears, inspiration, and perhaps also a yearning for a true love that stands the test of catastrophes.

But, have you ever given a thought to what the stories of the real people on the ship were like?

Their stories are exactly what Titanic the Musical explores. Scheduled to be staged at the Pingshan Theater from October 25 to 29, the Tony Award-winning musical from the U.K. will bring not just a feast for both the ears and the eyes, but also a chance to know a piece of the history of one of the world’s most legendary ships. The Shenzhen stop will be the show’s only stop in South China during its 10th anniversary tour.

The musical will be in English with Chinese subtitles.

Based on the real experiences of people aboard the Titanic, Titanic the Musical depicts the last days of 126 characters, among whom are Captain Smith, radioman Harold Bride, Macy’s department store owner Isidor Straus and his wife Ida, Second Class passenger Alice Beane and Third Class passenger Kate McGowan, all with personal dreams and ambitions despite their different backgrounds.

As the plot of the story we already know its ending unfolds, you will see on these characters struggles, bravery, cowardice, love, and ultimately, the indomitable human spirit in the face of hopelessness.
